Position Description

The successful applicant will provide mechanical design expertise for Ideal Aerosmith’s products and testing solutions. Typical responsibilities are to plan, concept and create the mechanical designs and drawings in adherence to established specifications and standards. While not being an expert all areas of the product, the successful mechanical designer will have a working knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes to optimize their designs for cost, manufacturability, assembly, while maintaining the integrity of Ideals precision test equipment.   

Job Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models and drawings for components and complete Ideal systems designed.
• Generate and provide supporting calculations, such as tolerance for the designs.    
• Prepare technical drawings, manuals and specifications for components and the entire system.
• Create and generate Bill of Materials for the system. 
• Verify and check drawings to appropriate specifications.  
• Confer with engineers, product management, customers, and management to discuss existing or future products and projects.  
• Provide mechanical expertise to assembly, integration team and customer support as needed. 
• Provide estimates for labor, material, and other costs for quotes and timeline development. 
• Participate and lead within the guidelines of the Entrepreneurial Operation System 
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.  
• Initiate, lead, and implement continuous improvement activities to achieve profitability and improve quality. 

Requirements

Qualification Requirements

• Associates degree in mechanical drafting & design or experience in related field.
• Deep knowledge and skill with CAD systems.
• Microsoft Office knowledge required.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.    
• This position requires the employee to work in a restricted facility that requires US citizenship or Permanent Residence (Green Card).

Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to lift and/or carry 45 lbs. 
• Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation.  
• The position can require walking, standing, squatting, crouching, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, sitting, repetitive motion and kneeling.
