Mechanical Designer jobs in Alaska

Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Would you like to:
    • Prepare clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from sketches or notes for engineering purposes.
    • Draft plans and drawings for layout, construction, and operation of pipeline systems from field notes, rough or detailed sketches, and specifications; make adjustments or changes as necessary.
    • Develop detailed drawings for construction of equipment and structures such as frame, steel, and masonry buildings, piping manifolds, and pipeline systems.
    • Check dimensions of parts, materials to be used, the relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
    • Use knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
    • Provide advice and consultation to client(s) on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.
    • Develop and manage client relationships.
    You need:
    • High School Diploma with design-drafting training through a college or vocational/technical school.
    • Designer mechanical design experience: 8 years, and Arctic experience.
    • Drafter mechanical design experience: 1 years, and Arctic experience.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and standard business software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
    • Ability to communicate technical information and requirements to individuals with a wide range of varying technical expertise.
    • Ability to contribute to a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, customers and management.
