Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager with expertise in automotive manufacturing and proficiency in JD Edwards software. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in managing materials and inventory in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management - including procurement, vendor management, inventory control, production planning, and production scheduling to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.

    • Develop and implement strategic plans for materials management to support production schedules and meet customer demand.
    • Manage the procurement process, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management, to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials at the best possible cost.
    • Optimize inventory levels to minimize carrying costs while maintaining sufficient stock to support production requirements.
    • Coordinate with production planning and scheduling teams to ensure the availability of materials and components needed for manufacturing.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to materials management, such as inventory turnover, stock-out rates, and supplier performance, and take corrective actions as needed.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and finance, to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to materials management, including environmental regulations, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
    • Supervise and mentor materials management staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional development and enhance team performance.
    Requirements:

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10years of experience in materials management, with 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the automotive manufacturing industry.
    • Proficiency in JD Edwards software or similar ERP systems, with a strong understanding of materials planning, procurement, and inventory management modules.
    • Hands-on experience with production planning, inventory control, and logistics in a manufacturing environment.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions.
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
    • Proven leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and developing a team of materials management professionals.
    • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
