Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Focus:

    • Implement strategic materials management and cost control across all company segments.
    • Gauge and present Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with insightful analyses.
    • Align with senior management and production units to formulate and attain short-term and long-term objectives, offering comprehensive assessments impacting various business functions.
    • Uphold and manage supply chain inventory and records, ensuring accurate and timely data management.
    • Mentor, lead, and elevate team members, fostering an environment that encourages continuous improvement and excellence.
    • Address and resolve arising challenges such as delivery delays or other supply chain disruptions.
    • Negotiate and communicate with external suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous agreements.
    • Introduce and manage efficacious procurement processes (i.e. eKanban), ensuring optimal resource utilization.

    Skill Set

    • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
    • Proven experience as a materials or supply chain manager in a similar industry.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain processes with a focus on cost reduction and process optimization.
    • Robust negotiation skills and the ability to forge profitable agreements with external entities.
    • Strategic and analytical thinking with a capability to implement effective buying and procurement strategies.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the aptitude to collaborate cross-functionally and engage with senior leadership and production teams.
