Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Regional Logistics Manager

  • POSITION OVERVIEW

    This position will support operations for both Nevada Cement Company (NCC) and Mountain Cement Company (MCC). It will directly report to the VP of Ops at NCC, with matrix lines to the VP of Ops at MCC and the Corporate Director of Logistics. The position will provide direction for inbound/outbound cementitious shipments, will oversee the operations of five cement distribution terminals inclusive of the Stockton import facility, and will have five terminal managers as direct reports. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the NCC/MCC logistics organization to achieve safe, sustainable, and cost-effective operations.

    Location: Dallas, TX. Consideration to be given to applicants living in Denver, CO, or Reno NV.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide operational direction to achieve efficient and safe logistics operations.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and permits for each facility/area.
    • Promote company safety programs to employees to continuously improve the company's health and safety performance.
    • Full P&L responsibility for terminal system, including developing and managing budgets and goals.
    • Implement strategic plans for meeting the future needs of the company.
    • Continued focus on optimization. Drive efficiency across the operations, reduce costs.
    • Participate in negotiations of freight agreements; maintain relationships with railroads, trucking companies, Port representatives, etc. to ensure operational needs are satisfied.
    • Generate capital requirements for the logistics network, inclusive of financial justification.
    • Ensure import program is tracking as intended and corrective actions are implemented as forecast changes.
    • Management of the Supply Planning Process. (Ensure network capacity aligns to Sales and Production Planning).
    • Monitor volume and cost summaries for all modes of transport - trucking, rail, and imports. Provide Railcar Fleet Management, including loading and unloading efficiency, cycle time, procurement, and fleet sizing.
    • Direct and coordinate the activities of Terminal Managers.
    • Improve key performance indicators, such as freight costs per ton, terminal throughput costs, demurrage, railcar utilization, etc.
    • Provide effective & professional leadership to all direct reports.
    • Ensure effective communication between terminals, operations, sales, customers, and carriers.
    • Supervise, recruit, and train personnel and manage their performance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field with five plus years relevant experience or ten plus years of progressive experience in terminal operations management and distribution planning.
    • Experience in developing and implementing budgets.
    • Understanding of financial statements and their impact on the business.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Sharp critical thinking and analytical skills.
    • Ability to handle complex, high-pressure situations effectively.
    • Ability to perform as a leader in a matrixed organization and on cross-functional teams.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills.
