Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Candidate will operate the purge block grinder to include retrieving full purge totes and doing color changes.
Candidate must be able to operate a forklift.
Ensure purge regrind is inventoried and used.
Weekly regrind inventory, and submit to Financial Analyst.
Ensure regrind is being used on the floor (including retrieving and loading regrind on production lines.
Work with Financial Analyst to bring over regrind from Purvis when needed for use.
Work with Scheduler to keep up with color needs for regrind.
Complete Spreadsheets for regrind usages and present for review.
Material inventory spot checks weekly to ensure correct counts on colorants.
Assist regrind operator when backlog of grinding is evident.
Responsible for keeping the regrind room clean and safe.
Candidate must be proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Candidate will serve as regrind person’s backup which may require to work nights or weekends for primary regrind person.
Responsible for achieving safety and quality goals
High school diploma or GED
Inventory experience highly desired
Forklift experience is required for this position
Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint. (Testing required for this position)
