Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing the quality lab, ensuring the lab meets all customer and general laboratory quality assurance requirements. This position sets priorities, meets deadlines and interacts with personnel at all levels of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for performing job duties in a safe and conscientious manner, following all procedures, programs, and policies established for specific department and calling attention to any unsafe acts observed in the work of others.
2. Manages the lab team, plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in testing methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
3. Responsible for all QA testing for a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
4. Responsible to maintain all testing and analytical equipment in areas of responsibility.
5. Works with technical staff to support new product development and testing.
6. Creates and/or maintains reports, QC Charts, databases and procedures and performs statistical analysis.
7. Trains, evaluates and coaches personnel in order to improve the overall effectiveness of laboratory operations.
8. Manages all lab resources and makes recommendations for changes to improve the lab effectiveness to meet business requirements.
9. Recommends and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
10. Designs, plans, performs and reports Gage R&R studies for analytical instrumentation.
11. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, sit and reach.
12. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. A 4-year degree in Science or Engineering. (Significant relevant quality experience may be substituted for a 4-year Degree.)
2. 5 years hands-on experience in an analytical lab.
3. 3 years leadership experience, preferably in a laboratory setting.
4. U.S. Citizenship.
5. Superior communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
6. Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
7. Exceptional technical skills, analytical ability, judgment and strong operational focus.
8. Self-starter; highly organized; efficient.
