Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Overview

    The Safety Manager is responsible for leadership, team development and all aspects of developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal regulations. This position will also conduct training sessions, investigate incidents, lead site execution of the corporate/segment safety strategy and provide recommendations for improvement ensuring clear, tactful, concise communication flows upwards and downwards throughout the organization and will work closely with Manufacturing, Logistics and Quality to find solutions that are both practical and sustainable. Supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

    This position is located at our Harleyville, SC facility with relocation assistance available.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive safety & health programs in conformance with plant rules, safety standards and company policies; Conducting safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
    • Collaborates with management during internal and external audits and inspections of the workplace to ensure teammates are safe in their operations and surrounding environment; prepares notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards.
    • Effectively communicates to convey ideas and information to others while providing coaching, teaching, and mentoring to teammates / visitors / contractors through regular, visible, on-site presence.
    • Serves as the primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management; responsible for administration of first aid for minor injuries and transportation of teammates requiring emergency / non-emergency medical treatment.
    • Records all incident / near miss reports timely, in a complete and accurate manner, in the Safety Management System (SMS); Manages workers’ compensation claims, overseeing documentation processes and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
    • Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, investigations, and related correspondence and properly post and report claims for injuries and illnesses in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
    • Develops, implements, and updates site-specific emergency response plans as necessary coordinates the on-site Hearing Conservation and Pulmonary Function testing and site-specific activities for contractor safety management program supporting efforts to ensure contractors adhere to safety procedures and policies while working on site.
    • Provides leadership to Joint Safety and Health Committees through active participation and regular meetings attendance.
    • Analyzes safety data to identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement. Provides regular communication to site leadership on safety performance metrics.
    • Administers safety recognition systems to promote safe and healthy work performance by all teammates.
    • Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.

    Skills & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in health & safety management or closely related field; or 5 years demonstrated progressive experience in safety management roles (cement experience strongly preferred).
    • Extensive understanding of safety principles and regulatory compliance requirements evident through currently holding or previously held (with ability to regain) certifications in First Aid, CPR, DOT, OSHA and MSHA Part 48/46, and RCRA.
    • Knowledge of auditing and inspection expectations with regulators / agencies.
    • Knowledge of engineering calculations for permitting, reporting, compliance and to support project goals.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites with accurate data entry skills.
    • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, while building rapport with team members and external agencies.
    • High level of integrity and commitment to comply with all applicable federal / state / industry compliance, record keeping, regulations and standards.
    • Due to the nature of this position, it is essential that the teammate be available to report to the designated work site / office and be ready to begin work when scheduled.
    • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.
