Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. The Role
The Materials Supervisor is a full-time position that ensures our in-field teams are supported with clear access to all the materials and supplies needed to complete their project. Daily activities include routinely organizing, receiving, entering materials into inventory. Under the leadership of the Production Manager, this position is focused on eliminating loss of materials both physically and financially.
This position’s success is measured by:
Completion of regular inventories.
Inventory management.
Organization and cleanliness.
Accurate and timely preparation of materials for the Operations team.
What You Will Do
Teamwork
Follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Communicate daily with the Production Manager and Team and Operations Crews about all work-related activity.
Maintain a professional, helpful, and optimistic attitude when working with all Topiarius staff and clients.
Material Management
Receive and process all deliveries.
Turn in invoices, receipts, and delivery confirmations daily to the Production Manager.
Working with the Production Manager, pull / prep orders for crews on a regular basis.
Help crews load pulled material in the a.m.
Help organize and track all soft and hard-scape material in the landscape yard (incoming and outgoing).
With direction from the Production Manager, use inventory software/tech to process inventory.
Adjust client cubicle name tags as needed.
Material Care
Provide proper horticultural care for all plant material in the landscape yard.
Maintain cleanliness of all yard equipment.
Make sure that yard/production area hand tools, ladders, carts, etc. are returned when borrowed and always in the same place.
Organization – Yard and Inventory
Keep all of the yard and inventory storage areas organized.
Educate staff to return unused items to a designated area.
Keep all pathways clear of materials, trash, etc.
Actively ask for guidance or help if different storage configurations are needed.
Additional Responsibilities
Drive a vehicle (van, truck, box truck) and a Dingo with competence and common sense around the yard.
Assist Facility Supervisor to shovel, plow, and/or snow blow in winter.
Work appropriately with potentially hazardous chemicals, including but not limited to fertilizers and pesticides.
Assist with seasonal display elements and production.
Take on property maintenance as needed in the off season.
Essential Skills
Identify softscape materials (annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees) and hardscape materials (irrigation supplies, stone, etc.)
Have experience with proper horticultural techniques and watering.
Know about landscape tools and equipment.
Load/unload materials.
Blow, rake, or sweep organic debris.
Record and document daily activities.
Expected Activity and Movement
You will frequently lift, carry, or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to several hundred pounds using appropriate tools.
You will typically bend, stoop, and crouch on a regular basis.
You will constantly move about to work.
You will regularly operate and clean equipment.
You will climb stairs and occasionally ladders.

Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
1 years of experience in the landscape/construction industry.
Clean IL driver license.
Able to count, add, subtract, multiply, divide for basic math.
Able to read and write English for industry specific tasks.
Able to lift and move up to 100 lbs. with appropriate tools.
Able to handle details and instructions accurately.
Have strong organizational skills and follow through.
Personal commitment to Topiarius’ mission.
Experience working with technology, such as cell phone apps.
Basic computer skills.
Other Desirable Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Ability to prepare items for seasonal displays and create floral arrangements.
What We Provide
Hours and Compensation:
Monday – Friday, 6:30 – 3 p.m., overtime permitted based on seasonal workload.
Hourly Pay $25- $30, commensurate with experience.
Paid Time Off (up to 10 days in first year) and Paid Sick time (up to 40 hours each year).
8 Paid Holidays.
