Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Qualifications

    Required Experience and Skills:

    • Ph.D. or Master of Science in Materials Science or related discipline is desired, or bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in materials development and manufacturing.
    • Applicants should have a keen interest in carbon material science with focus on real world applications.
    • Have led and worked on next generation materials science and processing in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Preferred Experience and Skills:

    • A thorough knowledge of carbon-based materials and composites.
    • Experience in carbonization and post carbonization treatments focused on optimizing the final material’s thermal, mechanical, optical, electrical, and/or tribological properties.
    • Working knowledge of material processing techniques such as mixing, sizing, pressing, thermal treatments, purification, impregnation, etc.
    • In depth knowledge regarding materials characterization techniques.
    • Experience with single crystal SiC growth and SiC materials is desirable.
