Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. About the Materials Supervisor role:
The Materials Supervisor is responsible for material in a high mix low volume production environment. This person will responsible for receiving, material storage, purchase parts market management, material movement through production, and shipping. The right candidate will drive a culture of continuous improvement within a newly restructured team. This role is critical in developing a purchase parts market, developing material delivery system, and creating a kitting process to deliver material to the right place at the right time to both internal and external customers.
Job Responsibilities:
Manages the purchase parts market. Responsible for ensuring inventory is accurate and maintains min/max inventory levels.
Responsible for picking material for production schedule and delivering the material to the right place at the right time
Responsible for receiving and shipping production materials timely and accurately
Leads cycle counting and is responsible to ensure the counts are done accurately and timely
Leads receiving, material handlers, inventory control, and shipping teams
Organizes and coordinates activities and staff schedules, ensuring fulfillment goals are met and that internal and external shipments are timely, accurate, and undamaged.
Communicates any issues or delays in shipments to impacted areas with corrective action plans and timings for resolution.
Collaborates with managers and other departments to develop and modify material handling processes, part presentation and standard operating procedures.
Strong leadership, motivational, and team-building skills.
Establishes and maintains appropriate systems and processes to ensure honest, fair, and ethical work environment; adhering to legal regulations.
Drives a Lean Culture in a high energy team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment that includes warehouse and/or materials management experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports

Green belt or Black belt certification
