Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     SUMMARY:
    The Materials Supervisor oversees the materials, warehouse, and shipping department in lieu of the Supply Chain Manager  during the off shift

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Oversee the materials management process, including inventory control, purchasing, and logistics
    Serve as the point of contact for Customers and Suppliers during the offshift hours, communicating with Management and the Production lines to ensure deliveries, coordination of tasks between all departments and outside entities.
    Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective materials management
    Manage the materials team, including hiring, training, and performance management
    Collaborate with other departments to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules
    Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchasing and production schedules as needed
    Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
    Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
    Prepare and present reports on materials management performance to senior management
    Ensure accuracy of inventory counts and investigate any discrepancies
    Report inventory levels to management
    Assist with inventory audits
    Identify and report any inventory or materials issues to management
    Maintain a clean and organized work area
    Performs additional duties as assigned.

    Strong Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team

    Experience with inventory control and purchasing software
    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
    Excellent time management skills.
    Strong problem solving skills
    Self-starter capable of working independently.
    Experience working effectively as part of a small team.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum Requirement:
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in supply chain management, logistics, or related field.
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets basic instructions and required documents.  Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.
    Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.


    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
    Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Normal amount of sitting and standing, above average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer. 
    Works with all levels of employees as well as executive management.
    Also works with Fehrer Germany, Supply Chain,  Accounting and Finance teams.
    Works with multiple suppliers, vendors, and customers.  
    Works with outside financial auditors.
