Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Job Duties:
Duties include leading the Materials Team employees in transferring material between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and assisting with the receipts of in-bound material facilities, placement of raw materials in proper storage areas, processing all documentation to ensure inventory accuracy, maintain records and coordinate with production, purchasing, accounting, planning, scheduling and logistics to maintain adequate inventory to meet production needs. Train, supervise and provide support to material handlers on all shifts.
