Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Materials Handling Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.   • Job Description:

    This position is for Materials Handling Lead. This individual oversees all of the material warehousing throughout multiple facilities. This person will maintain inventory accuracy and will ensure perpetual inventory transactions are handled in a timely and consistent manner. All warehousing and transportation positions report to the Materials Handling Supervisor.

    Competencies and Qualifications:

    · Must possess leadership skills, including integrity, communication, relationship, decision-making and teamwork

    · Must be able to develop good relationships with coworkers and promote an environment conducive to an efficient operation

    · Must work well with the Production Manager and other department personnel to ensure timely order fulfillment and delivery schedules are met.

    · Must be able to prioritize work schedules

    · Must have knowledge of computer programs and the ability to work within a database environment

    · Must have good attention to detail and quality of product

    · Must have a complete understanding of inventory control

    · Must be able to multi-task effectively

    · Must possess problem-solving skills

    · Must be able to operate a forklift

    · Good organizational and housekeeping skills are required

    Restrictions and Limitations:

    · Must have the ability to solve problems and think clearly in a fast-paced environment with the ability to keep calm under pressure

    · Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

    · Must be able to stand for up to three (3) hours at a time

    · Must be able to adjust break times to accommodate department deadlines

    Responsibilities:

    · Prioritizes schedules within the warehouses.

    · Initiates and enforces company, department and personnel policies and procedures

    · Runs production reports and assigns tasks to others based on priority and availability of product

    · Follows task schedules as assigned and keeps others on task

    · Checks others’ work for quality

    · Ensures team members are trained to safely and properly perform all tasks

    · Maintains inventory control and cycle count audits effectively

    · Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low

    · Keeps accurate records of all incoming and outgoing inventory

    · Is proficient in standard business software including EM10, Excel, Microsoft, and Outlook

    · Answers questions and handles problems/issues as they arise

    · Identifies all types of inventory and finished product that Index Packaging maintains

    · Evaluates the performance, coaches and ensures proper training is in place for all team members within the department

    · Maintains a positive attitude, commitment, and dedication to the success of the business.

    · Motivates team members and drives positive results through LEAN methodology

    · Maintains a professional and positive interaction with all co-workers, outside vendors, customers, etc.

    · Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
