Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Materials Handling Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
    • Directly performs and monitors laboratory activities to ensure the work is executed on time and in accordance with the client and project requirements and within company policies, procedures and standards.
    • Ensures personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office and laboratory.
    • Perform and supervise others completing construction and geotechnical related laboratory testing.
    • Oversees and performs calibration and maintenance of the laboratory equipment.
    • Supervises the efficient utilization of facilities and equipment assigned to the laboratory and makes requests for additional equipment as-needed.
    • Evaluates the performance of all employees within the laboratory and assists them in their professional development and growth, consistent with company policies and procedures.
    • With the assistance from the Materials Department Manager, Geotechnical Department Manager, and Laboratory Manager, plans, recruits, selects and provides training for personnel in the department.
    • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or related field and 3 years' experience performing laboratory tests on construction and geotechnical materials preferred. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years' related experience.
    • Certification by qualified national, regional or state authorities (ACI, NICET, DOT) or in-house certification is required in areas such as concrete, aggregates, soil and rock, or paving materials.
    • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
    Pay Range:
    The expected starting base salary for this position is $55,000. The salary will be adjusted based individual qualifications and experience.
