Materials Handling Supervisor jobs in Kalispell, MT

Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Materials Handling Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Responsibilities: Planning, timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Ensure the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels. Coordinate with finance/accounting on matters involving inventory-carrying costs. Review and plan requirements for acceptable inventory. May work with customers in auditing customer inventory levels and with internal and external vendors to comply with inventory policies. Process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity. Manage new product material flow for projects. Manage the entire materials process from concept to final release for moderate to very complex projects. Determine engineering needs, select the most appropriate suppliers, and work with suppliers to ensure requirements are met. Focus includes risk assessment for demands from internal and external customers, with the intent to minimize inventory exposure. May negotiate contracts; responsible for all components being available on time and ready to use. Conduct make or buy analysis prior to making outsourcing decisions.
