    • Uses basic material handling equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks or conveyor lines to return materials previously removed for marking and packaging to specified storage locations.
    • Package materials with identifying information in compliance with military or other directly applicable standards.
    • Performs specific, recurring warehouse receiving assignments.
    • Uses common hand tools and/or hand trucks, pallet jacks or other basic materials handling equipment to open containers and move items
    • Marks and packages materials with identifying information in compliance with military or other directly applicable standards

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • Emergency overtime may be required.
    • Must obtain and maintain forklift operator license within 12 months.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
    • This position requires pre-employment and periodic medical examination for fitness of duty.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler without more than normal supervision: unload incoming shipments using common hand tools and/or hand trucks, pallet jacks or other basic materials handling equipment and use bar code wands, labeling equipment, laser scanning equipment, and/or computer terminals. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
    • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 pounds. May handle heavier items with weightlifting equipment or with assistance from other workers.
    • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area for radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing.
