  • Duties

    • Maintain good order of supplies in a warehouse.
    • Direct material distribution using an automated storage system.
    • Complete warehousing work assignments in order to maintain flow of supplies.
    • Transport cargo utilizing vehicles up to 26,000 lb. gross vehicle weight.
    • Organize stacked material utilizing forklifts up to 36,000 lb. capacity.
    • Conduct daily safety checks of material handling equipment to ensure safe operation.

    Requirements

    Conditions of Employment

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • Must be willing to undergo pre- employment and annual physicals.
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
    • Must be willing to accept a term appointment scheduled to last 13 months, may be extended up to 6 years.
    • Must be willing to complete one year trial period.
    • Must be willing to work 1st shift.
    • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operators license.
    • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

    Qualifications

    This is a term position not to exceed 13 months. Term positions may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, and MAY NOT be converted to permanent.

    Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can perform common Materials Handler duties. I can prepare, identify and receive items, direct shipments to shipping or storage locations and operate forklifts to move and stack material. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
    • Physical Effort

      Work is performed on hard surfaces for extended periods of time that require standing, stooping, bending, walking, pulling, pushing, kneeling and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements exceeding 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with approved lifting devices and or weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.

      Working Conditions

      Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Inside environments are well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Outside work may be performed in hot, cold, damp, poorly lighted and drafty conditions. Incumbent may be exposed to potential falls, cuts, scrapes, bruises abrasions and possible injury. Work performed in warehouse environment is subject to injuries from falling stock, handling materials, hazardous materials and mechanized equipment. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as gloves, hard hats, aprons, approved safety glasses and steel toe shoes.???????
