A large heavy civil construction company is looking for a Sr. Director of Purchasing to manage their growing Purchasing Management team in the Farmingdale, NY area. The company is a multi-disciplined and diversified construction company. Their foundation lies in Heavy Civil construction (general contracting), but over the years they’ve grown other business units including a Wastewater Division, Environmental Division, Utilities Division, Drilling Division, Paving Division, a Consulting arm, Developmental arm, and a Materials arm.
The Senior Director of Purchasing will provide leadership and management for procurement of materials and subcontractors across all of the company’s divisions. The incumbent is responsible for identifying shortfalls in operational support across all entities and geographic locations. This position is also responsible for managing a small team of Purchasing Agents, Buyers and other purchasing employees interfacing with Accounting, Engineering, Estimating, Design Build and Field Personnel. The position requires strong negotiation skills to deal with vendors and subcontractors, along with a team-mentality to effectively collaborate with General Counsel, Risk and Senior Management when necessary.
