    Responsibilities

    Summary

    Ensure that the key performance deliverables are met EHS, productivity, inventory, service, quality, cost control both Opex and Capex. The Operations Manager not only directs the operations resources (people, equipment) to achieve this but is also expected to work with other departments to further the goals of the business.

     

    Internal

    • The Operations Manager is expected to demonstrate strong leadership in promoting/enforcing strong EHS performance. He/she will take personal accountability for EHS performance at the site.  The Manager will – with support from EHS staff – ensure the site has robust safety programs in place over the whole facility.
    • The Operations Manager is expected to deliver continuous improvement in business KPIs e.g. productivity, quality, Opex, working capital etc
    • The Operations Manager will ensure that there is a robust structure set up which is aligned to the business needs
    • The Operations Manager is expected to ensure that appropriate Capital expenditure items are generated in line with the business needs
    • Review, approve, manage, and drive the implementation of annual business plans and budgets
    • Maintain close working relationship and provide timely communication of issues/resolutions to department heads of Finance, HR, Sales/Marketing, and any other stakeholders within the business
    • The Operations Manager will ensure that stock controls and practices are in place to ensure accurate reconciliation all stocks. Ensuring regular PI checks and prompt and accurate booking of transactions is key to achieving this. Good physical layout and storage of stock is also a requisite.

     

    External

    • Ensure that the customer’s service requirements are met (OTIF, lead time & quality)
    • Support Commercial side of the business where required e.g. customer complaints, site visits etc

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required in a technical field.  Preference for engineering (mechanical, or chemical).  Chemistry or metallurgy background would also be acceptable.

     

    Experience

    • Exceptional interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will need to interface closely with customers (site and business managers), across industry segment.  They must have a strong presence and be comfortable presenter/speaker.
    • Strong leadership skills – a proven change agent.
    • Manufacturing leadership: The individual should have had a senior management role in a manufacturing Production environment.
    • Experience in managing EHS at a senior leader role is essential.
    • “Process” thinker – someone who understands and values installing/using work processes to provide a consistent, high level of service across the enterprise.
    • 20 years Operational experience with at least 10 years at management level.
