Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Overview

    The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for implementation, oversight, leadership and assistance with the company safety and health culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field safety, with specific expertise in mining requirements, safety training and support, risk management, and implementation of safety protocols. This role requires someone with a deep understanding of safety and the importance of safety culture, and someone who can provide expert support to our operations.


    Location:
    Salem, OR. Travel to locations within the valley as needed. These areas include Eugene, Keizer, Corvallis, and Dallas.


    Wage:
    $26 /hr DOE


    Shift:
    Primarily work 10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Nights/weekends/overtime as needed.


    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Ability to read and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions, correspondence, and memos.
    • 1-2 Years’ prior experience in Safety and Health (OSHA/MSHA).
    • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
    • Ability to carefully articulate and clearly communicate both specific technical information and creatively compose development strategies. Ability to effectively participate in and speak to large groups.
    • Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Ability to effectively navigate and research regulatory agency and industry related web content.
    • Leadership skills, clear and analytical thinking, and organizational abilities.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong phone and typing skills.
    • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
    • Demonstrated capability to lead a team and provide training to colleagues.
    • Ability to excel independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team.
    • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
    • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
    • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health or related field.
    • OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 certification and mining experience.
    • Knowledge of aggregates business, road construction, and excavation.
    • Knowledge of transportation (DOT/FMCSA regulations).


    Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

    • Administering/maintaining company safety programs; ensuring any/all new developments in human performance and technology available are utilized for incident/injury prevention and continually evaluated.
    • Assist with incident analysis for all occurrences, providing recommendations for risk reduction as applicable.
    • Overseeing site safety audits & assisting site personnel in selection/installment of safety devices.
    • Conducting hazard awareness and correction sessions with operations personnel.
    • Participate in the use of Coaching Action Plans to eliminate undesired behaviors and create new desired behaviors through pinpointed safe desired behaviors and proper follow-up/reinforcement strategies.
    • Stewarding/Implementing Human Performance philosophies, education, & growth strategies. Coordinating with Operating Company Managers to identify Event Learning Team opportunities and driving a Learning Culture.
    • Assist with providing direction/technical support to ensure employees’ health and minimize potential employee exposures through established industrial hygiene practices. i.e. Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation Program, Silica Awareness Program.
    • Developing creative communications methods to ensure the distribution and institutionalization of best practices through tools such as: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, e-mail, SharePoint, Adobe PDF, Teams.
    • Coordinate and schedule annual safety training, project specific safety trainings and develop/assist/create project specific safety plans and/or reporting as required by the project specifications.
    • Help support safety meetings.
    • Manage and monitor employee engagement programs.
    • Regular and timely attendance.
    • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
