Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

    • Lead and develop a team of Buyers ensuring availability of materials to satisfy production and customer needs while maintaining targeted inventory levels.
    • Develop forward-looking strategies for commodity/spend categories; analyze and evaluate procurement policies and stocking strategies.
    • Analyze material requirements and inventory, using PFEP, in order to maintain on-time delivery and target inventory levels, and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
    • Maintain data integrity within the purchasing modules of the business system, delivery dates, lead times, safety stocks, etc.
    • Analyze supplier performance data to find opportunities for improvement.
    • Support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and deployment of counter measures.
    • Work with QA Dept. to quickly and sustainably resolve supplier quality issues.
    • Collaborate cross functionally in the SIOP process.

    YOU HAVE:

    • Bachelor's Degree in business-related field preferred.
    • 5 years of previous experience in or with Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Inventory Control.
    • 2 years of management experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of process improvement concepts and methods along with the flexibility and adaptability to accept, support, and deploy new processes in a changing business environment.
    • Skill to create and implement plans aligned with the division's strategic vision.
    • Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address difference of opinions or facts and use the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present and influence views in a clear and compelling manner.
    • Ability to collaborate and interact professionally with all levels in an organization in order to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload and delegate work in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to effectively coach and champion staff growth and development.
