Materials Movement and Control Specialist

  • SUMMARY:
    Under the direction of the Production Manger, the Materials Movement and Control Specialist has responsibility for maintaining accurate accounting of incoming materials, the consumption of materials in production, the return of unused materials to the warehouse and the reporting of finished goods produced in manufacturing. The successful individual will serve as the primary contact for reviewing all material transactions and will own the resolution of discrepancies in a timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting reviews of all work orders, transfer orders and bills of materials included in each production order and making adjustments as necessary to ensure accuracy.
     
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Analyzes production schedules daily and confirms that the required amounts of raw materials (Bulk and Pre-staged) and packaging supplies required for production are available at the plant. Acts to immediately resolve any discrepancies to avoid downtime.
     
    • Works hand in hand with the Operations Shift Managers to ensure no material related downtime occurs due to shortages. During a production run, monitors material consumption and request more materials on the occasion when Operations over consumes on Raw Ingredients or Packaging.
     
    • Creates/receives Transfer Orders to and from the plant and the warehouses. Reviews and confirms that returned ingredients and packaging supplies are sent back to the warehouse in proper quantities.
     
    • At the end of each work order, conducts a detailed review of the materials consumed to the job. Works directly with the Production Manager to resolve any scanning or overconsumption issues. As part of the review process, validates the accuracy of the Bill of Materials and highlights any issues requiring correction.
     
    • Works collaboratively with the Shift Managers, Production Manager, and Plant Manger to resolve issues and improve the accuracy of inventory movements through coaching and process improvements. Performs physical count of inventory and reconciles actual stock counts to computer-generated reports.

    • Computer and Math Skills - Must be proficient in Excel and be able to navigate Microsoft Dynamics AX. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

    Must be able to effectively communicate with employees.  Ability to speak and write in both English and Spanish language is required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
     
     
     
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:                                                 
    • 2- 3 years of work experience; or 6 years of related experience and/or training.
    • General knowledge of manufacturing, inventory control and material movement in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
    • Experience with Microsoft AX is a plus
