Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     POSITION OVERVIEW:     Develop and maintain Plant processes and procedures to manager inventory and materials within the plant to AOP level.  Improve on-time deliveries to customers.
    PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    • Inventory Management to AOP Plan
    • Maintain management of Customer orders and demands.
    • Responsible for managing ERP system parameter settings that drive material planning requirements in pursuit of continuously improving inventory turns without disrupting manufacturing schedules.
    • Planning raw material and supply chain to ensure plant production needs are met.
    • Manage Excess & Obsolete Inventory Review
    • Troubleshoot logistic demands for both customers and suppliers.
    • Drive value added activities with the plant personnel and engineering to improve material yield and reduce scrap.
    • Proactively work with Corporate Sourcing and Material Planning groups to achieve successful and timely PPAP approvals of new suppliers/products.  Collaborate with those same teams to resolve supplier delivery/quality issues.
    • Manage the Materials staff at the plant.
    • Drive Continuous Improvement within the Materials processes and procedures.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent
    • Three to five years of Materials experience
    • Manager experience
    • Experience with most aspects of Plant operations and processes

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Considerable knowledge of all Plant functions
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Leadership skills – excellent judgment and decision making, ability to motivate others, management skills
    • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Lean Manufacturing experience – 6-Sigma, Lean, Quality, etc.
    • Teamwork, Coaching and Development
