  • Fusion Optix is a leading LED lighting technology company based just outside Boston MA. Our mission is to provide the best performing, most sustainable lighting & products for our market partners. We are seeking a Material Planner/ Coordinator to become an integral part of our team!

    The primary objective of this position is to coordinate with suppliers and internal production managers to ensure materials are available ahead of production builds. You will also be asked to manage and optimize our inventory and production process. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or production environment and be familiar with excel as well as MRP systems. They will be able to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the team to implement changes. Good Inter-personal skills, strong organizational skills, and diligent follow-up are pre-requisites for this role. This position can also be an excellent stepping stone to additional roles within the organization.

    Responsibilities:
    • Ensure that materials are properly ordered and delivered ahead of a build.
    • Communicate with vendors on order status and expedite POs as appropriate.
    • Receive in materials, track inventory levels, and work with production, accounting, and purchasing personnel to ensure material inventory levels are accurate and that current product in-stock levels meet customer demands.
    • Assist in conducting job cost analysis, tracking costs and profits.
    • Research and analyze suppliers, products and identify cost savings and or logistics issues.
    • Coordinate with relevant departments and suppliers, and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Maintain and update BOMs (Bill of Materials).
    • Conduct inventory counts as needed.
    • Review BOMs and technical drawings to determine material needs for production builds and oversee kitting.
    • Update inventory and procurement systems.
    • Assist with safety programs and protocols.
    • Coordinate with internal engineering teams on BOMs and shop drawings.
    • Possess a high sense of urgency, attention to detail, a “do whatever it takes to get the job done” attitude.
    • Perform special projects as assigned.
    • Previous Experience with Quickbooks a plus.

    Requirements And Skills:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field.
    • 2 years of proven experience managing material plans in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings.
