Marketing Communication Director directs, implements, monitors, and evaluates marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. Designs, develops, and distributes consistent themes, messaging and branding throughout all communication touch points. Being a Marketing Communication Director builds cross-functional relationships with organizational stakeholders to understand products, customers, and industry and develop a focused communication program. Oversees efficient processes for the regulatory review and approval of communication materials. Additionally, Marketing Communication Director explores and adopts new channels, methods, and platforms to optimize marketing communications. May oversee planning for trade shows and conferences to showcase products and amplify messaging. Develops budgets and internal and external resources for communication program delivery. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Marketing Communication Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Marketing Communication Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Job Summary

    The Assistant Director is responsible for

    1. Inclusive Marketing: Develop and implement inclusive marketing strategies using market research and student assessment. social and collaborative programs in the areas of antiracism, equity, and justice and supporting assessment of these programs.
    2. Publication and Promotional Development: Oversee branding and promotional material development to serve department-wide needs including news stories, calendar events, newsletters, and presentation materials.
    3. Social Media and Technology Management: Manage and develop website. Oversee all social media accounts. Develop innovative social media plans and use analytics to inform future marketing strategies.
    4. Administration: Supervise one or more undergraduate staff. Prepare annual marketing budget. Oversee department's marketing materials and equipment. Serve as a member of the department's professional staff team.
    5. Outreach: Coordinate outreach events that pertain to the department's visibility needs on campus and in the community.

    Salary Rate / Pay Rate

    $50,000 - $55,000 annual

    Required Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field conferred prior to start date
    2. One year (12 months) of work experience developing and implementing marketing strategies using electronic, print media, and social networking for marketing.
      Note: Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or closely related field may be substituted for 12 months of work experience.
    3. Knowledge and practice in utilizing inclusive marketing strategies
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Master's degree with inclusive marketing experience (Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, or a related field)
    Work Hours

    Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday; some evenings and weekends

    Functional Expectations

    Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

    1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
    2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
    3. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
    4. Lift and move 40 lbs. of materials using a cart

    The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
