Marketing Communication Director directs, implements, monitors, and evaluates marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. Designs, develops, and distributes consistent themes, messaging and branding throughout all communication touch points. Being a Marketing Communication Director builds cross-functional relationships with organizational stakeholders to understand products, customers, and industry and develop a focused communication program. Oversees efficient processes for the regulatory review and approval of communication materials. Additionally, Marketing Communication Director explores and adopts new channels, methods, and platforms to optimize marketing communications. May oversee planning for trade shows and conferences to showcase products and amplify messaging. Develops budgets and internal and external resources for communication program delivery. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Marketing Communication Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Marketing Communication Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel is looking for a Director of Marketing and Communications.

    The role of the Director of Marketing & Communications is to oversee the positive public image of The Carlyle by managing all areas of the external and internal communications plan including public relations, marketing and social media. The role will direct the development of a holistic strategy to position The Carlyle as a luxury lifestyle leader and implement the brand marketing communications, brand events and digital content plan and should be passionate, creative and have experience in managing content creation, planning and production. This also includes building synergistic luxury partnerships and creating awareness to showcase The Carlyle as a lifestyle destination, including the promotion of 192 guest rooms and suites, in addition Bemelmans Bar, Café Carlyle and Dowling’s. This role should have extensive experience in luxury lifestyle within the region in retail, travel, entertainment, and agencies would be advantageous.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Responsibilities include maximizing exposure in the local, regional, national and international markets by promoting and securing media coverage through the practice of establishing, maintaining and further strengthening media relationships
    • Coordinate community involvement opportunities to ensure maximum exposure.
    • Work closely with Sales & Marketing team for consistent messaging and strategic media relations, marketing partnerships and social media messaging.
    • Creates positive profile awareness through the media representatives on all aspects of The Carlyle’s revenue streams to ensure that we meet our Marketing, Communications and PR objectives as laid out in the annual S&M plan.
    • In conjunction with the Managing Director and Director of Sales & Marketing – develop an annual marketing plan for The Carlyle that underpins the yearly budget goals of the hotel.
    • Identify, recommend and act upon any potential marketing or partnership opportunities that create a positive market profile, exposure or potential revenue stream for The Carlyle.
    Core required skills and experience:
    • Stakeholder Management
    • Ability to liaise, partner and develop mutually beneficial relationships across hotel departments as well as multiple stakeholders in the corporate office.
    • Ability to partner and develop strong effective business relationships with the corporate office.
    • Develop mutual respect and partnership with key operational stakeholders in the hotel to execute key strategies and initiatives.
    • Balance business acumen approach with the hotel operations’ needs
    • Maintain an excellent hotel and professional reputation in the eyes of the media, the public, the owners, the guests and the hotel staff.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of international degree in Hotel Management or Sales and progressive work-related experience.
    • Minimum of 3 years hotel sales leadership experience successfully directing a sales team and a proven track record of achieving overall budget – luxury brand preferred
    • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data

    Compensation: $120k-$150k
