Marketing Communication Director directs, implements, monitors, and evaluates marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. Designs, develops, and distributes consistent themes, messaging and branding throughout all communication touch points. Being a Marketing Communication Director builds cross-functional relationships with organizational stakeholders to understand products, customers, and industry and develop a focused communication program. Oversees efficient processes for the regulatory review and approval of communication materials. Additionally, Marketing Communication Director explores and adopts new channels, methods, and platforms to optimize marketing communications. May oversee planning for trade shows and conferences to showcase products and amplify messaging. Develops budgets and internal and external resources for communication program delivery. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Marketing Communication Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Marketing Communication Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     position description 
    The Director of Communication and Marketing advances the vision of PBGH by promoting, educating, engaging, and influencing key audiences and fostering commitment to action among key PBGH stakeholders and members through various communication mediums. This role enhances the reputation of PBGH, strengthens relationship with our key constituencies and builds new channels and connections both internally and externally.

    This role is responsible for PBGH’s overall strategic and tactical communication, marketing, public relations, and member engagement plan, its development, implementation, and execution for the organization.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establish and implement overall multi-channel communication and marketing strategy and plan. Partner with department program managers and leadership to translate communication, marketing, and member engagement strategies to tactics with actionable steps to implement and execute for optimal visibility and engagement from our stakeholders.
    • Create, write, and measure impact of member facing communication and marketing materials coalescing, activating, optimizing, and understanding of and participation in PBGH’s strategic initiatives and of its services, tools, and resources.  Creation of materials include digital, video, audio and print content for specific initiatives, services and thought leadership pieces.
    • Evolve and ensure PBGH’s brand integrity and voice across all platforms including media stories, op-eds, website, and social media.
    • Develop and execute on National Health policy advocacy initiatives in collaboration with PBGH leadership, policy experts, funders, and members. Coordinate and supervise work from communication consultants, media, and design professionals.
    • Manage and support presence at member events, board meetings, industry events, and conferences.
    • Enhance staff awareness and commitment to PBGH’s mission, goals and outcomes through internal communication approaches including newsletters, and All-Hands meetings.
    • Supports PBGH leaders with writing grant and funding proposals.
    • Model servant leadership of PBGH values in everyday interaction with staff, customers, members, and stakeholders. Puts the good of the organization above own personal agenda and interests. 


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE 

    • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 10 years’ experience in communication, marketing, or related discipline in the health care industry. 
    • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal, written, verbal, oral and listening communication skills. 
    • Demonstrated critical thinking capability with people at all levels of an organization.  Strong, collaborative problem-solving skills with ability to see the big picture as well as the granular steps to execute effectively.
    • Motivated, self-starter, proactive with a strong work ethic and ability to work and deliver work products in a fast-paced environment.
    • Exhibits effective organizational and individual leadership qualities (including high emotional intelligence) bringing people together in collaborative ways.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Salesforce, social media, and project management software.
    • Ability to travel occasionally.

     
    The Director of Communication and Marketing work location is flexible within the United States. The role is a full-time, 100% work-from-home position.
