Reporting to the FAST Associate Director – Workforce Administration Unit, the Workforce Administration (WFA) Supervisor will oversee WFA staff and students and assist in directing the day-to-day distribution and completion of work assignments within the unit. They will take the lead in ensuring that there is balance and equitability in assignment workload for staff within the unit and will play a significant role in ensuring staff feel valued and have the necessary training and resources to complete their work confidently and accurately. The incumbent will ensure that the team is exercising audacious ownership by working in a proactive and responsive manner, ensuring that we are meeting the needs of the client, and providing exceptional customer service. The incumbent will provide direction to staff using a variety of payroll-related systems in the processing of employee job records, separations, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, time and attendance, retroactive pay, and the creation of new employment records. As a servant leader, this position will provide coaching, training, encouragement, and development opportunities to staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable and confident in the use of various payroll and financial systems and are provided with the necessary tools to be successful in their roles.
The Workforce Administration Supervisor will take the lead in Academic Personnel matters that include policy interpretation and management of academic processes and policies. They will build strategic partnerships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures related to payroll, will serve on various UCPath testing teams to understand system changes and will bring forward ways of implementing changes within Workforce Administration. The incumbent will work extensively with the Campus Support Center, Business and Financial Services, Human Resources, Academic Personnel, and other central offices at UC Riverside to ensure clients receive the highest level of customer service while also meeting UCPath integration and processing requirements.
The Workforce Administration Supervisor will assist in developing accurate reports for analysis that will measure the value of the WFA team’s success, including payroll-related audits and financial reporting as requested/required by the FAST financial teams. In our pursuit of excellence, this incumbent will troubleshoot issues and/or cases escalated by team members to a resolution; they will conduct root cause analysis on errors and offer the team the ability to process and improve daily to improve our accuracy and look for better approaches to completing work accurately. They will review and provide guidance on complex payroll and time-reporting transactions and will respond to payroll inquiries from departments, clients, and central offices; escalating issues to the Associate Director as appropriate. This position will assist the Associate Director in the planning of payroll activities, time and attendance system administration, month-end and fiscal year-end activities, and other activities as assigned, including coordinating the review of business processes and the testing of system updates.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $64,300 - $89,300 annually.

Strong working knowledge of payroll function.
Proficiency in payroll systems, general office software applications, and payroll reporting software.

Thorough knowledge of all payroll processes, policies, and procedures; knowledge of organization-specific computer application programs.
