Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Marine Cargo Inspector performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this position include conducting barge transfers based on Marathon's procedures and all applicable USCG regulations/guidelines; troubleshooting barges, performing minor maintenance on barges; and being proficient in all phases of barge transfers, including heater operation on hot oil barges. In addition, the position must maintain records and document all transfer times to be turned in to the office in a timely manner. The Tankerman must maintain uniforms and equipment necessary for transfers in good, clean condition so as to be ready and available for each barge transfer. The Tankerman will at times conduct transfer audits on third-party Tankermen and assist in training of new Tankermen. The Tankerman will interface with Marathon Marine's customers and must do so in accordance with Marathon policies/procedures.
Qualifications:
The qualified applicant must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license, as well as their own mode of dependable transportation. They must be able to travel to work locations via that transportation and via boat ride up to, but not limited to, a 150-mile radius of the listed location of Evansville, IN. They must maintain a valid Merchant Marine Credential (MMC) with Tankerman PIC and Barge DL endorsement, and a TWIC card. Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism are critical to this position.
