**Overview:**
Responsible for specific project segments and activities associated with the panel line and schedule workflows. Under specific guidance of the Director of Marine Production, plans, coordinates, manages, and evaluates work required to supply materials and parts that produce the shops can fabricate timely, profitable results and satisfied customers. This person must be self-disciplined, resourceful, and willing to accept responsibility for panel line as this position customer, related to the assigned project. Exercises appropriate independent judgement in adjusting priorities, goals and work assignments, methods, procedures, and techniques to successfully facilitate smooth flow of work throughout the shop floor. Overall goals, budgets and priorities are established jointly with the appropriate manager where applicable. Progress and performance are monitored through periodic evaluation. To assist the Production Manager specifically related to processing of materials through Craneway 6 and the launch ways. Value stream manager with primary responsibility for production flow and efficiency for CWY 6 and the Ways. Coordinate and assist planning to align projects with company goals. To ensure all aspects of the Safety and Quality Programs, and Operating Standards for Gunderson Marine LLC are followed.
**Duties:**
1. Develops short-term goals and long-term goals including work priorities and schedules for consideration to Marine Superintendents. Plans, coordinates, and directs daily and weekly production activities on assigned equipment and parts and construction crafts. Effectively communicates and collaborates with managers to develop strategies that result in the appropriate (i.e., timely and skill-specific) deployment of personnel and equipment needed on projects.
2. Coordinates tasks for each job among panel line, contract administrators, and craft workers and revises daily/weekly schedules as needed. Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to repair schedules.
3. Communicates to others project status; participates with customers and the Project Manager in planning and production meetings.
4. Confers with and directs supervisory and project management personnel regularly to establish and revise work schedules, clarify objectives, follow progress, and resolve production issues. This includes ensuring that employees are correctly carrying out the work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of jobs. Coordinates and orders part and supplies as directed.
5. Writes accurate and timely records or documentation for each job and contributes accordingly to final written specifications. Confers with supervision and project management staff, and Quality inspectors and suppliers of materials, to resolve repair problems.
6. Develops recommends, establishes, and enforces work standards, production schedules, quality and quantity requirements, and work rules consistent with operating policies, productivity levels of standard vessel maintenance work, and assigned goals and objectives.
7. Maintains effective working relationship with craft workers, customers, and contract administrators.
8. Ensures that worker safety and environmental concerns are constantly monitored problems are effectively resolved, and that all work performed meets standards set by regulatory bodies.
Knowledge of marine-related equipment, and techniques; sequencing of panels activities; Gunderson Marine & Iron safety practices.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees; read, analyze, and interpret ship specifications, blue prints, general business periodicals, marine shipyard professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations; write reports, business correspondences and procedures; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; accomplish tasks through influencing those not in the direct line of authority.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment for this job is demanding and potentially hazardous due to work on or inside shop as well as travel around shipyard.
· Five years of directly related experience in the areas of manufacturing activities including purchasing, materials, production processes, engineering and lean operations.
· Position requires experience and thorough knowledge of Marine manufacturing processes.
· Must be capable of administrating adequate directions, scheduling, and supervision of personnel.
· Communication skills must be excellent.
· Must have demonstrated management of team leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
· Possess the ability to work with little supervision and confident with the ability to focus on achieving business results.
· Must have good computer skills.
· Must have the personality, patience, tact, and diplomacy required to effectively interact and communicate with subordinates, peers, superiors, suppliers and customer representatives.
