JOB DUTIES: At Mount Vernon Developmental Center (i.e. under DODD), is responsible for overseeing all activities on all cottages & living areas on all assigned shifts, supervises lower-level Residential Care Supervisors & trains &/or orients staff (e.g. instructs regarding crisis situations; provides & clarifies work rules & procedures); makes rounds to ensure individual’s needs are met; reviews & ensures appropriate charting & documentation; evaluates sanitation & safety of environment; reviews goals, ensures staff compliance with treatment/habilitation plans & MVDC policies, investigates individual’s inquiries, unsafe exiting behavior &/or other unusual incidences, completes & signs employee performance evaluations (e.g. RCS1); oversees assigned staff’s preparation for participation in the interdisciplinary team meetings when applicable & ensures adequate staff coverage (i.e. maintains staff schedules; recommends/authorizes Request for Leaves); prepares &/or maintains various area & individual related documentation (ensures chart entries on individual development, progress of habilitation plans, vital statistics; unusual behavior or incidents observed keeps employee attendance record & employee leave data, maintain updated overtime & mandatory roster & rotate as needed); prepares UIR Reports as incidences observed; compiles supply orders & orders supplies for the CSO; acquisitions equipment; reports deviations from the established procedures to supervisor; maintains supply inventories; reviews restraints records to ensure proper procedures were followed; completes census reports; prepares repair requisitions; prepares monthly report for supervisor regarding employee use of time; reports safety hazards to appropriate department heads for necessary action; reports apparent medical problems to registered nurse, nursing supervisor, or Director of Nursing; performs various individual or area related misc. tasks; attends &/or assigns staff to attend trainings & programs (e.g. Annual Training, CPR, 1st aid etc.); attends interdisciplinary meetings to participate in habilitation plan development; conducts/attends staff meetings to communicate regarding operation of the Campus Support Office (CSO); relieves supervisors or other units upon request; provides staff training & in-servicing on new policies, procedures, work rules & regulations.
Manages daily functions & efficiency of the Campus Support Office; oversees & manages direct care, nursing, and auxiliary list regarding Additional Hours/overtime; ensures Fact Finders are initiated by the CSO & forwarded to supervisors to complete; gathers information for Fact Finder packets as needed, assumes responsibility & authority in administrators absence; prepares & administers staff schedules in a timely manner; schedules CSO RCS1’s & approves/disapproves their leave requests; rolls OT Rosters as determined by union contract; ensures MOT roster rotation is being followed and documented correctly, approves/disapproves employee timecards in KRONOS; provides information as requested by the HR Department for grievances filed; prepares & conducts the TPW & LPN Annual Vacation Selection process; directs staff in case of emergency (e.g. fire alarm, tornado alarm, staff/resident evacuation); ensures ICF/DD Medicaid standards are met; evaluate & implements customer service/support plan. Performs public relation duties (e.g. telephone & face-to-face inquiries, researches & responds to inquiries/complaints; assist in directing general public to applicable resources); evaluates data & prepares reports for administrators (e.g. overtime reports, staff accounting reports, call-off reports, leave usage reports); tracks & reports trends.
Assist other Departments as requested (e.g. interviewing applicants); makes rounds of the living areas & Day Program; covers for RCS1’s as needed; routinely assists the RCS1 at Willow Works Day Program: coordinates & communicates with Program Services regarding Operational Need of the cottages & Day Programming; conducts employee training as requested; performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications - 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in providing direct care to patients &/or in participating in development &/or carrying out of habilitation/treatment plans for patients who had either developmental disabilities or mental disability, 6 mos. of required training &/or experience should have been as ward charge or team leader with responsibility for ensuring other workers performed their duties & ensuring safety of sanitation of assigned work area.
