PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This role is a key position in our fast-paced, growing manufacturing services division. The fabrication estimator will prepare price quotes for the manufacturing of specialty equipment as well as perform some project management duties. Projects are manufactured by means of laser cutting, bending, machining, and welding and can range in size from $75 to $2M.

Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

Use historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.

Consult with vendors and personnel in other departments to formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Confer with customers, salespeople, and customer service to ensure customer requirements are being met.

Confer with engineers, owners, and others on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

Assess cost effectiveness of projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.

Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.

Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
KNOWLEDGE:
Syteline / ERP Systems
Microsoft Office, Specifically Excel
AutoCAD
Adobe
Familiarity with ISO or other quality standards
Strong verbal and written communication
Cost containment – understand profit/loss
Ability to learn new software and processes quickly
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

5 Years in Fabrication Estimating (Preferred)

5 years of Manufacturing Shop Floor Experience (Preferred)

Bachelor's degree in engineering or Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or Mechanical Design (Or equivalent experience)
