The Role
You would describe yourself as a maker. Your friends and family are constantly amazed by what you build in your garage/shop. You have a demonstrated proficiency building, testing and modifying both mechanical and electrical assemblies. You are constantly tinkering with your approach to mechanical and electrical assemblies until you get it just right. When new technologies come along you run towards them with an open mind and a critical eye. You are a self-starter who can work with minimal direction; yet you know when you need to ask for help or input. You have a positive attitude, enjoy working hard, and function well under pressure within a small team.
Responsibilities
You will be part of the production and prototyping team and work closely with the engineering team to assemble, test and sea-trial autonomous boats. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Build electrical and mechanical assemblies from both detailed (production) drawings as well as back of the envelope (prototype) drawings.
• Prepare as-built drawings, packing lists, and QC related documentation.
• Perform QC on 3rd party and in-house components as well as assemblies.
• Test electrical and mechanical assemblies.
• Assist in updates to QA program and documentation.
• Follow manufacturing best practices for the marine environment and robotic systems.
• Design, set up and maintain dedicated workstations, tools, manufacturing jigs and tools.
• Maintain, clean and organize shop, inventory and yard areas.
Required Qualifications
• Approximately 2 years of hands-on experience with mechanical and low voltage systems
• Proficiency with small hand and power tools
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical assemblies
• Ability to work with minimal direction while knowing when to ask for input or help
• Positive and hardworking attitude; ability to function well with a team and remain calm under pressure
