Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Kiffin and Kelly Ward are sibling co-founders of Ward’s Manufacturing, which provides metal fabrication services, specializing in laser cutting and bending metal, based in Warren, Rhode Island. We take on specialty orders with thick cuts, tight tolerances, and unique metals, all manufactured in the U.S.

    About the Role

    We are looking for a Manufacturing Associate to join our team and help us meet our production goals. The Manufacturing Associate’s main responsibility will be assisting the CEO and future manufacturing technicians with manufacturing tasks such as material handling, part deburring and cleaning, and packaging. They will be instructed on how to perform equipment maintenance, particularly on the fiber laser and press brake. Other responsibilities include general shop tasks such as cleaning, organizing metal materials, and receiving deliveries.

    This will be our first hire, so we are looking for someone with a strong work ethic willing to step up and help with various tasks to help run and grow our small business.

    There is an opportunity for career advancement as a manufacturing technician and machine operator.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform production activities including receiving deliveries, material handling sheet metal, deburring and cleaning metal parts, and packaging and shipping customer orders.
    • Perform material handling functions, including moving sheet metal and loading it into the fiber laser.
    • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and machinery.
    • Operate a forklift to move raw materials, finished goods, and other items.
    • Communicate effectively with other team members to meet production goals.
    • Complete and maintain all required documentation.
    • Complete all required training programs.
    • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
    • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
    • Ability to stand or do repetitive movements for extended periods of time and to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • An independent worker who can be given tasks to complete without constant supervision after initial training.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • We would like someone who wants to learn the ins and outs of the company and grow with it.
    • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred but not required.
