Manufacturing Director jobs in Lincoln, NE

Manufacturing Director oversees manufacturing operations and the production management and supervisory teams for a plant or unit. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Director monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems, and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency. Collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop long-term solutions. Additionally, Manufacturing Director implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes that support business goals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Manufacturing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • PRINCIPAL FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

    • Perform machining techniques necessary to complete a variety of assemblies

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Use shop drawings or other written or verbal instructions to create components by cutting, surfacing various fabricated metal parts.
    • Lift parts to and from pallets and baskets to and from machine tables.
    • Check parts for correct sizing and measurements
    • Clean and prepare surfaces before machining.
    • Use measuring instruments and hand tools to set up parts in a variety of positions, with or without the use of jigs, holding fixtures, guides or steps.
    • Select equipment and set machine settings.
    • Weld from a variety of positions to obtain proper strength and appearance.
    • Fit, align, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements.
    • Scrape and clean surfaces after welding.
    • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
    • Count, record, and stack finished components.
    • Perform other assigned tasks within the scope of this position.

    PHYSICAL DEMAND

    • Stand for long periods of time

    • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
    • Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
    • Move two or more limbs together ( for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place
    • Focus on one source of sound and ignore others
    • Able to lift 50 or more lbs

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • High School diploma or GED
    • Post-high school technical training and 1 to 2 years of experience, or 
    • Significant industrial on-the-job experience in lieu of technical training

    PREREQUISITE SKILLS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Able to read tape measures, calipers, and micromeders
    • Adhere to saftey policies and practices
    • Ability to earn forklift drivers certificate
    • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
    • Some irregular work hours, shifts and overtime
    • Maintain cooperative working relationships
    • Able to understand and follow instructions given in English
