Duties of the position include:
- Conducting legal research and analysis on matrimonial and family law issues
- Drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and contracts
- Assisting with case management and preparing for hearings and trials
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Engaging in negotiations with opposing counsel and drafting settlement agreements
- Attending court proceedings and representing clients at trial
- Providing legal advice and guidance to clients
Job requirements include:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in New York State
- At least one year of legal experience in the field of matrimonial/family law
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the Domestic Relations Law and relevant legal procedures, be proficient in legal research using Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw, have excellent writing, communication and organizational skills, and have experience with drafting legal documents and representing clients in the courtroom and at trial.
