Managing Attorney is responsible for managing the daily operations of a law firm or an organization's legal department. Provides leadership and participates in the most complex legal actions. Being a Managing Attorney directs law office operations, case assignments, and staffing. Oversees the activities and work products of subordinate attorneys. Additionally, Managing Attorney monitors case status, timelines, and issues. Mentors and coaches attorneys and implements staff professional development programs. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to top legal executive. The Managing Attorney manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Managing Attorney typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. About the role:
The position requires frequent interaction with clients, development of necessary evidence and in-depth knowledge of motion practice. Our ideal candidate:
Education and experience
- JD and licensed in CT. Additional tri-state licenses a plus.
- 5-10 years of experience in handling personal injury cases.
- Complete knowledge of the CT and/or NY practice book.
- Successful outcomes at trial.
- Needles Case Management or other digital case management tool experience.
- Experience with community outreach.
Skills and abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Bi-lingual a plus.
- Ability to manage complex cases across various practice areas in various stages of resolution.
- Ability to work independently as well as contribute to team goals.
- Ability to delegate and prioritize workload.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills.
- Able to work comfortably in a paperless environment as well as manage workflow remotely.
