Being a Managing Attorney directs law office operations, case assignments, and staffing. Oversees the activities and work products of subordinate attorneys. Additionally, Managing Attorney monitors case status, timelines, and issues. Mentors and coaches attorneys and implements staff professional development programs. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to top legal executive. The Managing Attorney manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Managing Attorney typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Duties and responsibilities:
1. Review evidence relating to contract disputes and approve filings
2. Attend hearings in relation to civil cases for breach of contract
3. Update system of record for accurate status of case outcomes
4. Attend mediations relating to contract disputes between banking organizations and their consumer base
5. Work with support staff to improve process and create workflow efficiency in a high volume environment.
Ideal candidate MUST:
~ Be licensed in VA (other state bars are welcomed, but must have active NC bar)
~ Know VA civil procedure and understand managing high volume legal operations
~ Have experience in debtor/creditor relationships with regard to state/federal protections, risks, and rules
~ Be able to manage a high caseload by understanding case management systems
~ Have a clean background
~ Be a TEAM player
~ Enjoy a fast-paced, fun environment
