The Level 1 Medication Aide (Medical) (Missouri) works under the direction of the facility Director of Nursing (DON) or their nursing designee, administers medications as prescribed, and documents the medication effectiveness and any noted adverse reactions or side effects.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Current / active Level 1 Medical Aide certification from the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) or the Department of Mental Health (DMH), which may also be referred to as DD Medication Aide (, required
Insulin certification required
Required completion of continuing education to maintain certification (minimum of four (4) hours of medication administration training every two (2) years);
required training will be documented and maintained in Employee File
Must show / obtain current Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) documentation for tuberculosis screening
Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
