Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Summary
Oversees the overall operation and administration of the radiology. Monitors the operational and personnel activities of the radiology to ensure proper processing, testing and analysis of films. Reviews quality assurance and quality control programs. Performs radiologic examinations and mammography procedures to allow accurate interpretation for diagnosis.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s degree in Radiography or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is required.
- Minimum of two years of technologist experience required.
- Six months to one year of management experience required.
- Mammography experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registrations
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate (Radiology) certification required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate (Mammography) required or obtained within one year of employment.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm and or 7:00am-5:30pm, occas wknd; 56hrs/2wks
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
