Major Gifts Manager manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. The Major Gifts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager.     RMHC NEO is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who possesses passion, compassion, and dedication as a Major Gifts Officer to support the efforts of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, Inc.
    In collaboration with the Development Department and the Senior Leadership team, the Major Gifts officer has primary responsibility for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors. This individual will manage a portfolio of 100-150 donors by designing and developing solicitation strategies; identifying gift opportunities that match donors’ passions and interests; soliciting gifts and stewarding major gift donors in personal, significant, and appropriately meaningful ways.
    As a collaborative leader, this individual reports directly and works closely with the Chief Development Officer and Senior Leadership to reach and exceed the annual revenue target and promote giving opportunities to interested donors by identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding current and prospective donors at a major gift level ($5,000) to expand their financial support of RMHC NEO programs.
    In the spirit of teamwork, this individual interacts in collaboration with RMHC NEO staff and volunteers to provide support and assistance in the fulfillment of their goals and objectives.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Ensures that the activities of this position are consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
    • Works in tandem with CDO in developing and executing ongoing strategy for qualifying donors to ensure retention, growth of donor’s contributions as well as recapture of previous donors. Works collaboratively with Development colleagues and other departments to create customized solicitation strategies matching objectives of the organization and interest of the donor/prospect.
    • Develops and manages an assigned portfolio of 100-150 qualified major gift donors and high wealth prospects who have the capacity to make multi-year commitments of $5,000 and above.
    • Serves as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of donors, developing and implementing personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
    • Maintains an annual “Top 25” pool of prospective major gift donors who will be solicited for a significant commitment in the next 12–18-month period.
    • Conducts a minimum of 16-20 significant personal interactions monthly, for the purpose of qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding these donors.
    • Develops compelling engagement strategies to solicit and close gifts as outlined above.
    • Develops a significant prospects pipeline as part of the organization’s evolving fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Senior Leadership and the Development teams.
    • Works with CDO to assign portfolio assignments as appropriate and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies.
    • Meets or exceeds annually established major gift goals and benchmarks, including interactions.
    • Collaborates with Director-Annual Fund, Data & Foundation Giving to maintain and grow foundation giving.
    • Collaborates with Director-Events & Strategic Partnerships to secure event sponsorships and cultivate and steward significant event donors.
    • Works with Trustees, Board Members, and other leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate donors in collaboration with the CDO.
    • Works with CDO to manage the Fund Development Committee to ensure the members are engaged and ultimately producing results in overall fundraising efforts.
    • Manages and expands RMHC’s planned giving program with input from CDO. Actively works to engage with financial advisors, trust officers and estate attorneys to secure planned gifts. Manages partnership with FreeWill.
    • Manages stewardship of planned gift donors in tandem with CDO. Ensures donors receive professional, timely written responses of appreciation and gratitude, ongoing communication, and that they are properly included on donor recognition sites in the Houses.
    • Works to diversify the overall donor base to appeal to donors from all backgrounds.
    • Communicates relevant information with Development Team and other staff as necessary.
    • Works with the Director-Annual Fund, Data & Foundation Giving and Development Coordinator and develops individualized plans to thank and acknowledge donors in meaningfully appropriate ways.
    • Initiates engagement opportunities for board and staff with major gift donors when appropriate.
    • Uses RE NXT donor database to record all significant interactions and maintain records of contacts with donors in real time.
    • Builds a comprehensive solicitation plan under the “Major Gifts Tab” in RE NXT.
    • Prepares written proposals, gift agreements, presentation and other materials needed to define, secure and document major gifts.
    • Analyzes donor wealth research materials and survey philanthropic interests to target appropriate givers.
    • Tracks and evaluates relevant giving information for CDO to present to senior leadership, Board, and staff.
    • Represents RMHC at selected special events and external fundraising activities as requested.
    • Participates in the annual budget process and monitors annual budget for major gift related activities and proactively make recommendations to help increase revenue.
    • Establishes priorities for managing own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
    • Acts as organizational ambassador and presents a positive image of RMHC NEO.
    • Performs other duties, as assigned.
    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience in major gift fundraising or sales experience preferred; High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 9-11 years of related experience in major gift fundraising or sales experience accepted.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and team orientated.
    • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with all MS Office products.
    • Participates on other committees as requested.
    • Conducts tours of RMHC as appropriate.
    • Serves as a member of the Speaker’s Bureau.
    • Assists with public relations activities as requested.
    • Participates in outside organizations that will benefit RMHC.
    • Must possess reliable means of transportation for frequent travel around Northeast Ohio.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
    • Sitting, viewing computer monitors, and utilizing a computer keyboard.
    • Regularly required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

    The home office for this position is located at both the Cleveland Ronald McDonald House, 10415 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH, and the Akron Ronald McDonald House, 141 West State Street, Akron, OH. In addition, this position may occasionally work remotely.
