Major Gifts Manager manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. Develops a portfolio of existing and potential donors and a strategy to enhance and extend relationships to generate philanthropic revenue. Being a Major Gifts Manager organizes events and meetings with prospects to raise awareness of the organization's mission and highlight accomplishments and ongoing funding needs. Makes regular personal contact with key contributors to strengthen relations with the organization. Additionally, Major Gifts Manager oversees proposal preparation and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Major Gifts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Major Gifts Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Respond to inquiries and communicate with donors, advisory organization members, Salvation Army employees and leaders. The position has direct oversight for a team of professionals and will be responsible for training, mentoring and accountability of its members.   There is required day and overnight travel within the three-state region and covering these areas (Jackson, Vicksburg, Monroe, and Shreveport). This position will be based in Jackson, MS.   You are an ideal match for the role if you have: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferably in a related field of study) and five years’ experience performing progressively responsible fundraising work in a charitable organization with demonstrated successful fundraising and donor relations, and three years’ supervisory work in a major gifts environment. Experience in leading a team of fund-raising professionals. Proven history of establishing and maintaining strong long-term donor relationships. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Track record of achieving goals. Prior experience with a donor management system.
