Maintenance Planner, Sr. devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner, Sr. develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner, Sr. utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.     The Position

    The Maintenance Planner is responsible for delivering Planned Predictable Performance for Facilities Operations and Maintenance.

    The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating activities related to routine / non-routine maintenance activities, supporting and providing technical advice related to Preventative Maintenance/Repair activities of cGMP production equipment, utilities, and instrumentation associated with Manufacturing Operations under limited supervision.

    They will collaborate with the execution team and site scheduling to ensure all production impacting maintenance activities are dispatched and resourced appropriately.

    The Maintenance Planner will collaborate with scheduling for leveling demand against available capacity and ensuring that all constraints to the schedule are considered (customers, materials and labor).

    The Maintenance Planner will translate department maintenance strategies and work order requests into effective, detailed job plans for repetitive and non-repetitive maintenance work.

    Essential

    Responsible for planning maintenance and repairs for equipment and instruments located at Oceanside campus in accordance with all relevant requirements/regulations, and ensures all customer and process needs are met

    Plan and coordinate routine and non-routine maintenance, repairs, and facilities activities. Translate work notifications/requests into detailed work plans / work orders based on mechanical experience, background and skill set.

    Responsible for initial screening of incoming work notifications, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning

    Perform job walks, field investigate work orders and ensure all required documents, parts, etc. are accurate and available for the work to be performed. Perform job walks to ensure complete understanding of requested work and project support.

    Create work plans with clear definition of the problem, technical information and materials, such as manuals, drawings and P&IDs, work and safety instructions, permits, and accurate estimates of craftspeople, equipment, tools, materials, parts and other required resources, based on mechanical knowledge of equipment and in-field experience for the relevant work being planned.

    Partner and collaborate with the work notification requesters and/or other personnel to obtain the needed information for the creation and proper planning of work orders.

    Obtain vendor quotes, create safety risk work plans and other such requests as needed.

    Upon completion of work, communicates with skilled trades regarding ideas and procedures that would make future jobs more efficient.

    Is able to accurately measure the maintenance backlog in its various forms and continually maintains established backlog targets/ agreements

    Planners will maintain a 4-6 week Planned Work Backlog maximum

    Work closely with other personnel, such as: mechanics, management, service requesters, production staff, technologists, engineers, and outside contractors to schedule routine and non-routine maintenance activities to ensure continuous, optimal operation of facilities and equipment with minimal downtime

    Create and revise work plans that provide work centers and Scheduling the detail that can ensure an efficient resource loaded schedule

    Maintain schedule stability in terms of material and capacity requirements based on planning, training, and workload capacity by coordinating, scheduling and bundling jobs that optimize overall performance and minimize facility downtime

    Ensure the accuracy of repetitive job plans, routine repairs and non-routine repairs in accordance with all relevant procedures

    Identify, determine availability, and/or order parts necessary to complete work orders

    Collaborate with MRO to ensure parts are available for routine work orders, as scheduled

    Audit MRO Stores staging area on a regular basis to ensure jobs are executed as planned

    Determine estimated labor hours to perform the work order and monitor work order cycle time for differences between estimated and actual time; continuously drive improvements when gaps are identified

    Establish and maintain performance reports that track Key Performance Indicators that identify trends and improvement opportunities. Responsible for executing work within established targets for Business Health Indicators (lagging) and Process Health Indicators (leading).

    Maintain CMMS data integrity and perform data corrections and updates as needed, inclusive of updates to BOMs, task list BOMs, Functional Locations, Sort Fields, Durations/cycle times, etc.

    Develop documented procedures for Planning processes

    Represent Oceanside Facilities/Maintenance locally and globally on different project teams, such as: shutdowns, technology transfers, capacity management, systems integrations and various CMMS data initiatives

    Build and maintain a strong relationship with all stakeholders, including but not limited to MRO Stores, Vendors, Contractors, Customers, Production Planner Schedulers, Document

    Control, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Administrators

    Be an advocate for integrating LEAN concepts in daily work; lead initiatives that standardize maintenance activities, strategies to improve equipment uptime, improve quality, and drive down costs. Lead initiatives that drive such improvements

    Benchmark best practices within and outside of the company to learn from and implement innovative solutions to drive efficiencies

    Provide backfill as needed for various maintenance activities, as needed

    Perform other duties as requested by Manager to support the operation

    Schedule and Conduct all work in a manner consistent with all cGMP, OSHA and Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

    Strictly adhere to fiscal practices, including budget projections, requisitions and monthly accrual preparations.

    Work with cost center managers to ensure budget requirements are met

    All employees with jobs that require access to the Warehouse must be able to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment (STA)

    Follows established safety and environmental guidelines and procedures for all work performed. Immediately reports safety and environmental incidents including injuries, illnesses, near misses, and safety suggestions. Fosters a positive safety culture in which no one gets hurt.

    Education and Experience

    Minimum of 7 years hands on experience in the maintenance field with extensive knowledge of operations and equipment and minimum 6 years in a cGMP environment.

    Some level of supervisory or team lead experience is desirable

    Experience with planning or coordinating maintenance activities and repair activities in a manufacturing facility.

    Experience with SAP PM, Microsoft Office Suite required.

    Experience in Business Process Management, Lean Production Systems, and Document Control.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Overall knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, steam, electrical systems, controls, and maintenance methods.

    Extensive troubleshooting skills on various equipment and systems

    Strong understanding of facilities maintenance, work order planning and asset management Best Practices in a GMP environment.

    Able to learn and apply maintenance best practices.

    Read and interpret construction, engineering P&ID and schematic drawings.

    Ability to work on multiple activities simultaneously in a fast paced environment.

    Able to work towards specific goals and objectives with minimal supervision.

    Ability to interact well with others in a team environment

    Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, customer service, technical and organizational skills.

    Strong organizational skills and time management skills

    Standard office environment.

    May be required to lift up to 25lbs

    Environment requires that gowning in the form of hospital scrubs, bunny suits, gloves and steel toe boots be worn. Also, no make-up or jewelry can be worn when working in the clean room environment.

    Work in clean room environment with large mechanical equipment, piping, and pumps connecting to tanks serviced by high-pressure steam, water and air together this creates a loud environment
