Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Job Summary / General Purpose:
The Maintenance Scheduler/Planner at our 18 MW wood-fired biomass power plant in Westminster, MA is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the plant resources in the maintenance and operations area by completing procurement activities, planning contract maintenance activities, maintaining the plant warehouse and inventory control, maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and overseeing shipping and receiving of goods. This position will be responsible for supporting the daily planning and scheduling of all maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Manager. The employee exercises independent discretion and judgment within established company and plant policies, procedures and practices.
This position operates from established procedures, performing duties independently under general direction and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operation procedures and guidelines. The position encounters new and varied work situations involving a moderate degree of complexity.
The Maintenance Scheduler/Planner reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and works in cooperation with the other facility Managers and maintenance employees as needed to insure the safe, efficient, reliable, operation and maintenance of the plant.
