Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Description: 

    The Maintenance Planner will maintain the Computerized Management System (CMMS) for the Maintenance Department, plan and schedule weekly maintenance work schedules for the natural gas plant facility and field operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Process work requests into work orders for assigned areas. 
    • Coordinate the development of all required (regulatory, company and general practice) routine and preventative maintenance procedures and schedules.
    • Schedule all active P3 work orders in a four-week operational demand-based schedule. Work with operations/maintenance supervision to lock in the subsequent one-week schedule. 
    • Perform weekly work order updates with supervision to maintain an active back log of jobs.
    • Publish the plan of the week for operations and maintenance to review.  Solicit completion updates for crew back logs and obtain scheduling feedback.
    • Produce and post the weekly KPI reports and other information as required. 
    • Attend all scheduled planner/scheduler training and assist with training of new employees or as needed.  
    • Interact with the Maintenance, Plant and Pipeline Operations department as well as external customers.
    • Perform additional administrative tasks in support of the Maintenance Department as required.

    Qualifications

     Education and Experience: 

    • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. 
    • Technical certification, associate degree, or equivalent training in a process or mechanical environment or energy related field preferred.  
    • 5 years maintenance or operations experience in a natural gas processing plant, petrochemical plant, gas gathering or transmission, or refinery is required.  
    • Experience using maintenance management software preferred.    
    • Have a broad knowledge of administrative operating procedures to effectively comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Specific training and/or experience in computer use including the use of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and maintenance management software is essential.    
    • Experience with coordinating maintenance-related work including ordering supplies/materials and scheduling contractors.
    • Detail-oriented, organized and able to multi-task effectively.
    • Team player that interacts effectively with co-workers in a group or in independent cooperative activities. 
    • Excellent communication skills and a desire to be a part of a work group that strives for excellence in service to customers and the company. 
    • Must be accountable and self-driven to learn and continuously strive for improvement.
