Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.   • THOR Solutions, LLC is actively seeking a Maintenance Planner/Logistician to support an upcoming contract at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) in Newport, RI. An ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting NAVSEA/Navy/DoD preventive maintenance activities and generating associated documentation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Catalog, track, and analyze Preventative Maintenance System (PMS) documentation such as Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs) and Maintenance Requirements Cards (MRCs).
    • Formulate and provide recommendations for improvement to the PMS.
    • Prepare and submit Technical Feedback Reports (TFBR) to correct and update the PMS.
    • Review all TFBRs received from outside activities (Fleet, Maintenance Activities, etc.) and make recommendations.
    • Track all TFBRs to ensure recommended changes are distributed to the Fleet via the PMS Force Revision Change CDs.
    • Review and make recommendations for improvements to Maintenance Planning documentation developed for the Acquisition Engineering Agent (AEA) to include the Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA).

    Location: Full time onsite at NUWC Newport in Newport, RI.

    Typical Physical Activities: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.

    Existing Secret Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing DoD Secret security clearance.

    Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
      • An ideal candidate will possess additional relevant education such as technical school certification, military school diploma, or undergraduate degree.
    • At least seven (7), and ideally at least fifteen (15) years of recent, relevant experience supporting maintenance planning activities in a NAVSEA, Navy, or similar DoD environment.
    • Experience with Preventative Maintenance System (PMS) documentation such as Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs) and Maintenance Requirements Cards (MRCs) and generating Technical Feedback Reports (TFBR).
    • Proficiency with common productivity software including the Microsoft Office suite.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
