Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine, as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases. GTP is a complex R&D organization consisting of research laboratories supported by multiple core functions which provide internal capacity to perform gene transfer studies from basic research through Phase 1 proof-of-concept human trials.

    The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the "go-to" organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

    Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.

    Job Description

    Due to our program's growth, the Vector Core is looking to add a Lead Lab Maintenance Planner and Scheduler to support current Vector operations.

    As Lead Lab Maintenance Planner and Scheduler, you will be responsible for providing support of the Vector Laboratory's equipment and instrumentation asset maintenance, calibration, and spare parts program at the Discovery Labs (DL) in King of Prussia, PA. The assets to be managed include general and advanced laboratory equipment and instrumentation used to manufacture and characterize biopharmaceuticals. Duties include, but are not limited, completing and documenting all maintenance and calibration activities, developing and/or executing maintenance and calibration procedures, performing and documenting the review of vendor provided service reports, interacting with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and ensuring adherence to all safety and compliance regulations while completing tasks.

    You must have advanced level knowledge and abilities of computer software including Microsoft Office and CMMS.

    This position will require you to work on-site during all scheduled working hours and may require some off-shift and weekend hours as needed to support lab operations.

    Qualifications:
    Associate of Science or equivalent Vocational/Technical degree or certificate in a technical area and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

    Minimum experience of 2 years in a maintenance or coordination position

    Working experience in a research or quality control (QC) Laboratory - Preferred

    Working experience in a regulated (e.g. FDA, GMP, ISO) environment - Preferred

    Working knowledge/experience of maintaining assets through CMMS.

    Working knowledge/experience of electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.

    Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

    Ability to work in a team-based culture

    Ability to present metrics to management or other partner organizations.

    Ability to effectively communicate across teams
