Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for leading, organizing, and executing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance actions performed within the facility. The planner is responsible for the coordination of parts, materials, and manpower to ensure proper execution of work leading to increased machine availability.

Warehouse and production environment. The environment may range to various temperatures depending on the time of year. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to loud. Ability to wear protective gear is required at all times on production floor.
