The Lawrence, Kansas facility is 236,000 square feet and home to about 155 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits®. Lawrence is a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University with Kansas State University about 85 miles away. The city is known for a thriving music and art scene and is also the home of the University of Kansas athletic teams.

Pay Rate: $37.25 per hour

The Maintenance Planner will support the plant manufacturing goals and strategy by ensuring the proper resources are deployed at the proper place and time to perform the required maintenance tasks.

As a Maintenance Planner, you will: 

• Operate the CMMS maintenance system
• Process work requests as required in assigned planner group
• Participate in prioritizing maintenance work with supporting operations groups
• Determine skills and resources required for a given work order
• Be responsible for tracking critical Metrics: % Planned vs. Unplanned Work, % Scheduled Work Completed, Work Order Backlog
• Manage PM creation, schedules and effectiveness
• Assist with parts research and procurement for Word Orders and PMs. Work with Stores to ensure parts required are kitted and available for scheduled work
• Identify breakdown and rework issues and participate in Root Cause Analysis of issues
• Schedule labor and coordinate equipment availability for maintenance
• Work to constantly improve the Plant through cost saving ideas, process improvements, and business simplification ideas
• Be responsible for coordinating work among all shifts
• Obtain necessary permits
• Track active PM’s and Work Requests. Follow up on past due Requests with Maintenance Supervisors
• Communicate with Stores, Purchasing, Operations, Maintenance Personnel, and others as necessary to ensure efficient work flow
• Understand and apply FSMA, plant quality, plant current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and food safety requirements to the daily performance of the job
• Support all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and performs assigned safety responsibilities
• Perform all other duties as assigned

• Strong knowledge of mechanical / electrical equipment and systems
• Understanding of plant manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with maintenance and maintenance related work
• Practical knowledge of computer systems and office programs
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability and to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Detail oriented
